701 Flaperon Forming Blocks

 

701 Flaperon Parts...

The O/B Flaperon length has been increased 385mm... from 1790mm(5.873') to 2175mm(7.134'). Thus one more Flaperon arm - 7V4-7, Flaperon Bracket - 7V4-6, Nose Rib - 7A1-2, Rear Rib - 7A1-3, and Hinge bracket - 7A1-5 will be added to the O/B Flaperon each side of the wing... The 7A2-5 Control Horn or bellcrank will be modified using a Triangle Mfg. Co from Aircraft Spruce and a modified bellcrank made out of 4130 steel and tubing, The slot in the fuselage side can then be eliminated...

7A1-5 - Flaperon Hinge Brackets... 3/4 x 3/4 - 0.125. Notice a problem here! The drawings required 8 of the same 7A1-5... WRONG
ERROR: Should be 4 left and 4 right. As a result of the lengthening of the wing... the length of the O/B flaperon is also increased by the same amount! Thus need to add another flaperon arm, bracket, nose rib and rear rib to the O/B flaperon on each wing... 5 left and 5 right are now required for the modification, therefore have to make 5 more rights now...

3/4" Triangle Bearings... to be used instead of the 7A2-5 Control Horn... and a bell crank instead of having to cut the slots in the Fuselage sides, ie thus no holes in the side...

 

750 Flaperon Parts...Flaperon Change

Changes I have made to the Main Wing(going with the 750 wing) require that the Flaperons be redone also to the 750 Flaperons. The Full Ribs and Rear Ribs have to be changed. The 750 Full Ribs are 235mm long as opposed to the 701 which is 193mm long and the Rear Ribs are 180mm for the 750 and 138mm for the 701... 42mm difference! The Nose Ribs remain the same as the 701... no change! Also the - Control Horn and Splice plate remain the same.

This photo shows the difference in the 701 Flaperon Ribs and the 750 Ribs! The upper ribs are the 750 and much longer then the lower 701 ribs... the 750 nose rib is the same as the 701! By using the 750 ribs allows the aft trailing edges to have a finished as opposed to the wrinkled riveted 701 aft trailing edge
